Today you launch the Reflective Journal that runs across both years of LCA. You will look at two short journal models side by side, then write your first formal entry: who you are right now, and what you want from these two years.
If time runs out, finish and file the written entry first; the sixty-second speak can wait.
If you want, jot a six-word identity line as a header on your entry later. That one is just for fun.
A reflective entry is not a diary of what you ate. It names what is true for you, what it means, and what you want next.
| Term | What it means for you | Real example |
|---|---|---|
| Identity: who you are right now | Your entry starts from a real you, not a made-up version | Student, carer, teammate, someone new to LCA |
| Reflective entry: what happened, what it meant, what next | This is the shape your first journal entry needs | First full LCA day: I felt nervous, but the tasks looked doable. I will keep one honest page a week. |
| Six-word memoir: your story in six words | Optional warm-up that forces you to choose what matters | Still learning to trust my voice. |
Read this strong line: I feel nervous and relieved at the same time, because for once the work in front of me looks finishable. It is specific, honest, and looks forward. Your entry should do the same.
Read Entry A and Entry B below. One is honest reflection. One is a thin list. Use them as craft models only: take the pattern, not someone else's life.
Notice what works in the strong one, jot two short notes, then go straight into your own entry. These notes are just for you.
You’re making: Reflective Journal Entry 1, 8 to 12 sentences.
Where: in the writing box on this page. You only need the first draft today.
When you’re done: copy it into your Communication Portfolio folder as m1_l2_journal_entry1_AB.
This is your first formal Reflective Journal entry and the piece that banks M1 KA1. Write 8 to 12 sentences (about 120 to 200 words) under the title Who I am right now, and what I want from these two years of LCA.
Cover three things: who you are right now (roles, places, people that matter), how starting LCA feels, and what you want from these two years. Be specific. Be honest. Do not copy Entry A's hopes. Name ones that are actually yours.
The final version in the box below is what banks KA1. When you finish, copy that final version into your Reflective Journal inside your Communication Portfolio folder as m1_l2_journal_entry1_AB (AB stands for your own initials) (paper journal as-is; digital in whatever format your school portfolio already uses). Ask your teacher where your class Communication Portfolio lives before you file.
Take the entry you just wrote and say the heart of it aloud for about sixty seconds: who you are right now, and what you want from LCA. Speak it to a partner or your teacher. Do not read it word for word.
Your partner notes one clear hope they heard; you both initial the delivery log below. Speaking it to someone is the main path. Record it as well if you want the practice for the oral exam later.
KA1 remains the written entry. After you speak, think about what went well and what you would change next time. Note that in your own Reflective Journal later, not on this page.
