1 - Introduction ~5 mins
Welcome
Today you stand up and run your piece out loud, the way you may have to run it in front of an employer.
Your format 1 is the finished piece you built for your Something Real project: a slide deck, a short video, a podcast clip or whatever format you chose. VET is the Vocational Education Task, the interview where you talk an examiner through that project, and format 1 is what you may open and present in that room.
This closes Module 2. You rehearse format 1 with a partner, check that your backup copies open and that you can start the file cleanly on the classroom machine, then fill a short readiness page so your teacher can confirm your Module 2 handover.
What you will do today
- Run format 1 the whole way through, standing, as if the interview had started
- Check that your printed or PDF copy, your electronic copy and the machine you would present on are all ready
- Write a short page on what is solid, what still needs a fix, and when you will fix it
Warm-up
Picture the interview room for thirty seconds. What is the one thing that would make you feel ready when you open your file on someone else's machine: a clean PDF or media backup, a practised opening line, or knowing exactly which click starts your deck or video?
2 - Key Concepts ~4 mins
Interview day is not the time to discover a missing file or a broken click path. Four ideas make format 1 VET ready. Your teacher will talk these through; you do not need to memorise every cell.

3 - Common Issues ~4 mins
Common Issues
Read this before you stand up. If something fails in the rehearsal, use the matching fix and keep going. Do not start a long export during this read-through — if you still need a publication copy, your teacher will give you two minutes at the start of the rehearsal while pairs with files settle.

4 - VET Dress Rehearsal ~20 mins
Run a full dress rehearsal of format 1 with a partner, then be ready for a teacher spot-check. Treat it like interview day: stand if you would stand, open the real file, and deliver the real opening through to a clean close.
Nerves in a dress rehearsal are normal — that is why we practise now, not on interview day. If you stumble, pause, breathe, and pick up from your opening line; you do not need a perfect take.
If your file will not open
- Open the PDF, MP4, or MP3 publication copy from {{code:sm2}}.
- If that fails, open {{code:Project_Portfolio}}/{{code:09_specialism}}/{{code:sm2}} in OneDrive or Google Drive in the browser (school bookmark or app launcher, not a desktop shortcut).
- If you have no format 1, tell the teacher and export from your last editable source before you pair up.
Before you stand up
- PowerPoint Online: open from your cloud folder, then start with the {{btn:Slideshow}} control (or {{btn:From Beginning}}). On a desktop install you may use {{kbd:F5}}. On a Chromebook use the Slideshow button — do not press {{kbd:F5}}, which refreshes the browser tab.
- Google Slides: open from your cloud folder, then click {{btn:Present}} (top right). On a Chromebook use Present — do not press {{kbd:F5}}.
- Avoid leaving presenter view on by accident if the interview machine shows two screens oddly. Your teacher will demo one clean start on the spot-check machine before pairs stand.
- Video or audio (MP4 / MP3) on the shared machine: open the file → press play once → set volume → reset to the start → then speak. If the clip is longer than about three minutes, play a short excerpt for the pair run.
- Always: open from OneDrive or Drive in the browser path above, not a forgotten desktop shortcut.
How the rehearsal runs
- Open your final format 1 (editable source for rehearsal if it runs cleanly; otherwise the publication copy: PDF, MP4, or MP3) from {{code:Project_Portfolio}}/{{code:09_specialism}}/{{code:sm2}}.
- Pair up (use the pairs your teacher set). Partner A delivers a full short run. Hard cap: 2–3 minutes max for live delivery. If your video or audio is longer, play an excerpt only so the swap stays fair.
- Partner B listens without interrupting, then gives exactly two notes: one strength, one improvement.
- Swap roles and repeat.
- If your teacher calls you for a spot-check, deliver the same piece to them (and to the class if asked) without restarting your prep story.
Listener job: write the two notes in plain language your partner can act on (for example, "hook is clear" and "slow down on the budget slide"), not vague praise.
5 - Portfolio Build: VET Readiness Check ~18 mins

Open the four-heading template already in {{code:sm2}} (or create the file if your teacher asks). Fill the four sections in short bullets from today's rehearsal. Leave the file named {{code:sm2_vet_readiness_check}} in {{code:Project_Portfolio}}/{{code:09_specialism}}/{{code:sm2}} beside your format 1 source and publication copy.
Time: about 18 minutes, with your teacher circulating to confirm handover.
