1 - Whose Birthday Is Next? ~5 mins

Illustration for Whose birthday is next?Whose birthday is coming up next in this class? Say the month in English first.

Today you will name ten Spanish months (January to October), write a full date using one of those months, and spot one big difference from English: Spanish months stay in small letters.

Two more months will come later, so everyone can finish the year set.

    2 - Ten Spanish Months ~10 mins

Here are today's ten months, one card at a time. Look at the English and the picture first. Listen to the Spanish model, then repeat it with the class. Watch the spelling: every month starts with a small letter.

    3 - Month Bingo ~10 mins

    Key point

You each have a printed bingo card with Spanish months on it. Your teacher calls a month, and if it is on your card you mark it and whisper the word to yourself as you do, so your ears and your mouth both get the practice. The first person with a full line stands up and calls ¡Bingo!

    Tip

There is one demonstration mark on the board first, so watch that before your own card starts.

    4 - Into Your Copy ~3 mins

    COPYBOOK MOMENT

Open your copy. First we say the date frame together from the board, then you write one full birthday-style date using a month from today's list. Keep every month in small letters, just as Spanish does.

Frame on the board: Mi cumpleaños es el ___ de ___.

5 - Match Then Say Your Date ~10 mins

Part 1 – Match: On the board, volunteers flip two cards at a time and find each Spanish month with its English name. The class says the Spanish quietly together as each pair is found.

    Example

Part 2 – Birthday chain (about 3 minutes): With a partner, take turns saying one full date from today's list. Partner A: Mi cumpleaños es el 12 de mayo. Partner B repeats it, then says their own date with a different taught month. Keep months in small letters. Use the frame on the board if you need it.
