    1 - Getting Started ~3 mins

The closed mystery bag being felt, the object children must wonder aboutListen. What can you hear right now in our room?

Your teacher has a closed bag. Watch carefully while she feels something inside it, tells you what she notices and asks a question about it.

Today you will notice things with your senses and ask I wonder questions too.

2 - Name the Sense and the Body Part ~5 mins

A child is on the board, with word labels waiting beside them.

Which part helps us see? Which part helps us hear, smell, taste and touch?

Hands and skin help us touch. Mouth and tongue help us taste.

Body parts that help us sense

    3 - Senses Carousel ~14 mins

The apparatus at the three carousel stations, so children recognise eachThere are three stations in the room: a touch station with feely-bags, a hearing station with shaker pots, and a sight station with magnifiers and things to look at closely. Your teacher will call your group and point to the station you start at, and you will move on when she says so, until your group has been to all three.

At your station, say what you find: I notice… I wonder…

Everyone gets one careful turn, so while one person is feeling or shaking, the friends beside them watch with quiet hands and then swap. Keep the pots and bags closed, because the fun is in guessing what is inside without looking.

4 - What Did You Notice? ~3 mins

Come back to the carpet. Think of one station you liked.

Tell your partner what you noticed and your I wonder question.

    5 - Make-sense Talk ~3 mins

Which station helped you ask a good I wonder question today?

A cook smells food to notice if it is ready. A doctor looks and listens, then wonders how to help. Our senses help us notice, then ask questions too.
