Imagine a new classmate has just arrived at your school in Valencia. With the person beside you, prepare one short English sentence introducing them. A few pairs will then stand and introduce their partner to the class.

That felt natural in English. Today you will learn to introduce yourself in Spanish, ask someone their name and where they are from, and notice a more formal way to ask a name.

You will meet the phrases in two short groups: first the ones about you and a friend, then the ones about where you are from, along with a more polite way to ask someone's name.

Notice which phrases you use about yourself, which ones ask a friend, and which one you might use with a teacher.

Watch the board as a volunteer flips two cards at a time, and whisper the Spanish along with every card that turns over, even though only the volunteer is tapping. Your job is to spot each Spanish phrase with the English that goes with it.
